Whitchurch Primary School Travel Plan

Travel Plan for Primary School extension for Bath & North East Somerset Council

PEP was appointed by Bath & North East Somerset Council to work alongside BBA Architects & Planners on the extension to Whitchurch Primary School, on the edge of Bristol.

The extension comprised a new classroom block, installation of an external door into the existing school facade and incorporation of unused land into school grounds. The PEP team prepared the Transport Statement and Travel Plan to help secure planning permission. This was approved in October 2018 and the extension will be in use from September 2019.

PEP’s role involved liaising with the highways officers at Bath & North East Somerset Council and producing travel surveys for the pupils and parents/carers in collaboration with the school. The Travel Plan was produced following the various consultations.

Working closely with the architects, PEP helped find a suitable construction access in order for the build to proceed. This involved relocating the pupil entrance during the build process, which the school is now keeping as a secondary entrance.

Ross Barnes, the Project Manager at Bath & North East Somerset Council, thanked the BBA Architects team for the “ongoing support and efforts throughout the entire project… the difficult planning application and alleviating concerns (such as traffic)… You have helped ensure we deliver the best solution for the school.”

PEP has worked with B&ANES on a number of school projects.
