The team that talks together stays together

Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Messenger Rooms… just about every business up and down the UK and around the world is using one platform or another for online meetings. PEP are no exception, but have found the daily check-ins with the team, where everyone touches base and shares their plans for the day, to be not so bad after all…

Hilary Vaughan is a Director at PEP and one of her roles is Mental Health First Aider; a role she takes very seriously. Of the meetings she says, “Yes we encounter pauses, people speaking over each other, the usual ‘you’re on mute’ situations, and so on – but we keep the sessions brief. ” She adds, “Checking in collectively is important, as are one-to-one chats. It’s about balance.”

The company expects that many of the meetings they currently conduct with clients and associates online, will continue in this way post-pandemic. Mark Callaghan, Director responsible for PEP’s Highways Detailed Design, explains, “Of course a lot of our work requires site visits, that’s the nature of our work, but there are times when a journey could be avoided. And since we’re in the business of sustainable travel, we’re keen to reduce our carbon footprint where we can.” He adds, “The difference now is that over the past year companies have become increasingly conscious of climate change. I think we can expect some behavioural and business model changes going forward as a result of the pandemic.”

As experienced Transport Planning and Highways Consultants, PEP are ready to respond to changes in how people work, travel and trade in the future.
