Travel Packs: PEP getting the show on the road

Travel Packs prepared on Thursday, delivered on Tuesday for the new homeowners’ arrival on Thursday. We’d call that a slick operation from the PEP team.

We consciously left the printing as late as possible in order to ensure the information was completely up-to-date in light of Covid-19’s impact on travel.

The last 12 months have been tricky for the team. The pandemic has caused significant changes to bus and rail schedules. Government rules have been changing regularly. There have been reduced services, road closures, changes to cycling infrastructure and car sharing guidance – all of which have been carefully monitored by PEP.

At the height of the pandemic packs were not distributed  – we didn’t want to place a burden on the mail service, make unnecessary trips or risk face to face meetings with the local residents.

This particular Travel Pack, complete with travel information leaflet, was delivered to every new property on the Stonewater Homes residential development, Millwater Place in Crewkerne. Our team followed Covid security procedures undertaking tests and temperature checks.

Section of PEP Crewkerne travel mapHigh quality literature

Literature for all the developments are checked to meet PEP’s criteria. We’re looking for good print quality, eye-catching design, accuracy and writing that will encourage action. The leaflets, which include a map highlighting key locations, generally cover:

  • Local bus services
  • Cycling
  • Walking
  • Car sharing (that’s when it’s safe to do so)
  • Train connections
  • Taxi services

We’re highly experienced in the production of Travel Plans, which more frequently include a Travel Pack. And as part of the ongoing monitoring and review process, we also produce surveys, Facebook pages and set up QR codes. We also have expertise in assisting in publicity campaigns to market alternative travel options. And we can provide a Travel Plan co-ordinator.

Non-residential Travel Plans

PEP also undertakes Travel Plans for non-residential projects such as places of employment and schools. We often help with the appointment of  in-house co-ordinators.

PEP is a member of ACT TravelWise, the UK’s main network for organisations promoting sustainable travel.
